Arlene “Archie” Wenzel went to celebrate her life with the Lord on July 21, 2024.
Arlene grew up in Chicago and attended St. Cyril & Methodius Church, which she dearly loved. In 1955 Arlene married the love of her life, John Wenzel, in Chicago. John and Arlene eventually moved to Palos Heights and joined St. Alexander Church where she saw her two daughters get married and her youngest granddaughter, Madeline, make her communion. Her strong connection to her faith was very important and she was very thankful she grew up in the Catholic faith.
Arlene was a humble woman who went out of her way to always care for her family at great sacrifice to herself. She loved spoiling her family with dinner parties, her award-winning cheesecake, and her famous meatballs.
She leaves behind her cherished sister, Phyllis (Lou) Gatch, beloved children, John (Rachael) Wenzel, Shari (Edward Draper) Wenzel, and Cheryl (Jeff) Lemmy. She will dearly miss all her wonderful grandchildren, Ashley & (Josh), John Aaron & (Bethany), Eric & (Devon), David, and Madeline, and her great grandchildren Savannah, John Albert, and Samuel. Additionally, she leaves behind her dear friend Jan Janulis who loved and cared for her and her daughter for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband John and her loving daughter Cynthia Harrison.
