Bernardo “Papa Bernie” Cantorna, M.D. Immigrated from Cuba to fulfill his medical residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL where he met and courted Joan Flynn, a nurse from the Chicago’s Southside. They went on to marry and Bernie became a longtime Pediatrician serving St. Francis Hospital in Blue Island and Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights. Beloved husband of the late Joan (nee Flynn). Loving father of Bernard (Margherita), Julie (Dave) Aken, Mari (Leonard) Farrell, James (Melanie), Sean, Dione & Terrence (Evelyn) Cantorna. Proud papa of Elena, Gabriella, Ryan, Christina, Elizabeth, Madison, Sean, James, Fiona, Jack, Isabella, Bernard, Ethan, Evan, Emelina, Katherine, Bella & Benito. Visitation Friday, December 18th from 3 until 9 p.m. Chapel prayers Saturday, December 19th, 9:30 a.m. at the Kerry Funeral Home, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights proceeding to Saint Alexander Church, Mass 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
