Catherine Alene Naylor, born June 14, 1936, Cathy died peacefully in her sleep August 30, 2024.
Loving daughter of the late Charles and Alice (nee LaPlant) Naylor. Sister to Mary (late William) Larke, the late Patricia (late Warren) Golden, and Charles (Carol) Naylor. Proud aunt to 13 nieces and nephews and she knew the names and interests of each one’s spouse, children, and grandchildren. Originally from Chicago, she became a nun with the Sisters of Saint Joseph and became a fond teacher to many. After 12 years she decided to see the world and rediscover herself. She traveled all over, not staying in one place too long. A summer trip visiting Native American homelands led her to Taos, New Mexico, which would be her soul’s home for over 37 years, after which she worked her way home to Chicago. Her greatest passion was meeting new people and helping everyone she could. She was a continuous student, teacher, writer, addiction counselor and psychologist. She savored every bite of food she ever ate, smelled every flower she walked by, said hello to animals and trees, read the same books over and over, had a nickname for everyone, and wrote stories about her ancestors so the rest of us knew what we are made of. Catherine's family is grateful to the memory care staff at Palos Heights Senior Living Center and Lightways Hospice. A celebration of her life will be announced later. Catherine always gave to many charities in her lifetime and in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
