Gloria J. Mayer

April 24, 1940 — September 9, 2023

Beloved mother, sister, aunt, and Grandmother Gloria J. Mayer, passed away peacefully on September 9th at age 83. She faced multiple health issues over the last few years with perseverance and as she had done so with everything throughout life, she also faced death her way.

She will be remembered by her family and friends for her kind spirit, strength and determination and the pride she took in her family as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Mayer, brother Bobby Thezan, and sister Pat (Jim) Van Henkelum. She is survived by her sons Douglas (Brandy) Mayer and Eric (Heather) Mayer, brother Jimmy (Jackie) Thezan, grandchildren Nicole, Brandin, Jeffrey, Tyler and DJ, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, September 20th after 9:15am at St. James the Apostle Church (480 S. Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137) before the Memorial Mass at 10am. Mass will be followed by procession to Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421) arriving by 12:15pm for 12:30pm Committal Service. Luncheon to follow, location TBD.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Gloria.
