Henry R. Szczasny
(Age 76) Beloved husband of Estelle for 56 years. Loving father of Michael (Annette) and Paul (Patricia). Cherished grandfather of Alyssa (Nick), Rebecca, Stephen, Maria, Thomas and Michael. Great-grandfather of Laila and Gianna. Henry was the embodiment of the American Dream. He came to this country as a young boy with nothing in his pockets but a Hershey bar. He learned how to speak English and excelled in school. He went on to serve his country in the Air Force and that’s when he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Estelle. His sons were born shortly thereafter, and Henry worked as a financial analyst by day and attended DePaul University at night where he received his degree. Henry was a die-hard White Sox, Blackhawks and Bears fan. He coached youth baseball for over 15 years. He would spend hours at the baseball field or in the ice arena watching his sons and later his grandsons and granddaughters compete. He was also a patron of the arts. He loved everything from opera to rock and roll. He and Estelle were always at his sons’ and granddaughters’ performances. Henry eventually entered into the business world with his sons as owner and president of two companies before he retired in 2008. He was loved dearly by all and will be missed.
