Mary Rush (nee Murnane), grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Mercy High school in 1948. She worked as an Executive Secretary for IBM in Chicago, a position she loved and excelled at for many years. When she married Charles P. Rush, Jr. in 1958, they started a family, moving to South Holland, Illinois to raise their five children.
Mary enjoyed cooking, golf, was an avid reader, and a loving Mother and Grandmother. She worked at the South Holland Public library when her children were grown, bravely jumping into new technologies. She volunteered at St. Francis Hospital and served as a minister of care for St. Alexander’s Catholic Church.
Mary was a staunch supporter of women’s rights and loved seeing broader career choices become available for women, especially her granddaughters. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was fiercely independent in her approach to life. A giving person until the end, Mary had a smile for everyone she interacted with.
She was loved by many for the kindness and care she showed everyone. She will be sorely missed and affectionately remembered by so many who loved her.
