Mary G. Spatz (née Kelleher)

Age 98, peacefully passed into God’s hands on December 18, 2022.  “Gerry” was born on February 22, 1924 in Seneca, IL to Mary Agnes and Francis Kelleher.  In 1942, Gerry graduated from Mercy High School and in 1946, graduated from Mercy School of Nursing at St. Xavier University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  She began her nursing career at Mercy Hospital and later worked at Little Company of Mary Hospital. Gerry was the loving wife of Charles to whom she was married for 50 years.  She was the cherished mother of 11, a loving grandmother of 15 and great grandmother of 8.  She was Aunt Gerry to many nieces and nephews including Patricia Kelleher.  She was devoted to her catholic faith and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She had many interests and hobbies throughout her life, including travel, reading, politics, nursing education, and attending live theater and other cultural events. Gerry is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, her parents, and her brother, Frank.  She leaves her family and friends with many wonderful and humorous memories.  She will be missed by all who loved her.  Visitation Wednesday, December 21st from 10 a.m. until time of chapel prayers 11 a.m. at the KERRY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CARE CENTER, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights proceeding to Saint Alexander Church, Mass 11:30 a.m. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  Donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org
