Paul Francis Nees, “Grandpa Walrus” Proud U.S. Marine Corps Veteran who was brash and fearless during his active duty. Longtime member of the American Legion Post 1291. Paul worked for over 40 years at W.E. Carlson Corporation where he was a “silver tongued” salesman who was fond of salty language. He had Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He had a passion for upland bird hunting and fly fishing. He was an avid reader, accomplished cook, storyteller & MC of all events. Paul had a hard edge, quick wit and soft generous heart that made him one of a kind. Beloved husband of 46 years to the late Dorothy. Loving father of Lori (Mark Ritsema) Caldwell-Ritsema & Christopher Nees. Proud grandfather of Keegan & Taylor Ritsema and Carrie & John Caldwell. Dear brother of Dr. Monica Nees, Marcia (late Fred) Lichtenberger, Anelia Nees & Dr. Susan (Michael) Radtke. Family & Friends will gather Thursday, October 20th, 10:30 a.m. for a Memorial Visitation until time of Mass, 11:00 a.m. at Saint Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Drive, Dyer, IN. Family & Friends will gather Friday, October 21st, 11:30 a.m. for committal prayers and military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL.
