Raymond G. Johnson

Raymond G. Johnson Age 91, beloved husband of the late Joan for 66 years; loving father of Jay (Andrew Kato) and Kristen (Rob Jalovec); cherished grandfather to Sam; son of the late Ebba and Gust Johnson. Like his late wife, Ray had a love and passion for music. After all, it brought the two of them together when they were 13 years old as members of the professional Chicago musical group, The Accordioneers. Ray’s involvement with the group also featured him as the band’s organist, percussionist, as well as their musical arranger. He continued his devotion to music, with his “accomplice” Joan at his side, playing at church functions, friends’ and family parties. For many years, Ray proudly served as an usher at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church. Ray leaves a beautiful legacy of love to his family and friends along with many happy memories. In accordance with Ray’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment is private. A celebration of his life will be held late summer or early autumn depending on the guidelines for Covid at that time. As a proud member of The National Guard, which he served for 11 years, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
