Richard E. Ach

It is with great sorrow that the family of Richard E. Ach, 89 years old of Palos Heights, IL, husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend, announces his passing on January 5, 2024. 

Proud father to Richard J. Ach (the late Laurie), Angela Gonzalez (Joe), Elena Kanagandram (Kandiah), Heidi Cotter (John) and Cynthia Edwards (Jayson) and Opa to his grandchildren Gabriella, Tristan, Maggie, Nick, Elyse, Matthew, Marie and Tim and is survived by his wife, Wilma of 62 years and his sister Hildegard Hofer.

Richard was born in Germany in 1934, the fourth of five siblings and emigrated to the United States from West Germany in 1955, becoming a U.S. citizen shortly thereafter.  He continued on with his trade as a pastry chef and baker, living the American Dream, becoming a small business owner, a homeowner and a father to five children.

His interests included baking and cooking for family and friends, singing in choirs, collecting stamps and coins, and investing.  Richard was a proud member of the Oak Forest Numismatic Society and the German D.A.N.K. club for many years.  He was most proud of his children, their educations, and accomplishments throughout their lives, as well as their spouses and children.  He always felt blessed to have healthy and happy children.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 22 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday February 23 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the Kerry Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 AM and held at St. Alexander Church, 7025 W. 126th St., Palos Heights.  

Interment will be private.
