Robert “Bob” Knoerzer, aged 95, of Palos Heights, Illinois, passed away on February 14^th, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family.

Adoring husband of Patricia (nee Wereldsma) Knoerzer. Loving father of Susan (the late Dean Wharton) Knoerzer, Robert (Mary Louise) Knoerzer, Thomas Knoerzer, and Mary Pat (Daniel) Polk.

Dear brother of the late Charlene and Dr. Joseph Menez and the late Helen and George Doherty.

“Most Awesome” grandpa to Robbie (Ann), Brittany, Charlie (Melanie), Sean (Paige), KC, Natalie, Meg, and Beth. Proud great-grandpa to Paul.

Bob grew up on the south side of Chicago and attended Mount Carmel High School. He went on to attend Notre Dame University, studying pre-med. In September of 1946 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a Medic with the 1st Cavalry Division in Japan. After WWII, he finished his studies at Loyola University and began work in the coal and oil industry. Later, he would have a successful career as a real estate broker, including serving as the president of the South Suburban Board of Realtors. He married his wife Patricia in 1951.  They were devoted to each other for 71 years.   

Visitation Friday, February 17, 2023 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Chapel prayers Saturday, February 18, 2023, 12:30 pm at the KERRY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CARE CENTER, 7020 West 127^th Street, Palos Heights. Proceeding to Saint Alexander Church, Mass 1:00 pm.

Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Honor Flight Chicago, an organization dedicated to honoring living veterans.
