Susan M. Nemec (nee Plese)
Susan Nemec, age 76, passed away surrounded by her loving family after a battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife of 52 years to Joseph, a cherished mother to Joseph (Katie) and Adam (Carole), and an adoring grandmother to Leo, Gus, Emory, and Hal. She was a dear sister to Joan Muzzey and Joseph (Mary) Plese, and a beloved aunt to many nephews and nieces. Sue worked as a lab supervisor at O'Reilly Medical where she took tremendous pride in her work. She enjoyed crafting with the "painting ladies" in the Southside Brushes and watching superhero movies or anything with Tom Selleck. She was a fantastic baker who could effortlessly whip up tasty kolaches, date nut bars, and cherry pies. Her grandsons will miss her beautifully decorated, delicious cakes on their birthdays. Later in life, she enjoyed experiencing the joy of Disney World with her grandsons. She was a woman of faith and found strength in it throughout her life. Most of all, she loved her family very much and would do anything for them. She was a very active "Gramma" to Leo, Gus, Hal, and Emory. When it came to them, she was up for anything—a game of Pie Face, hide-and-go-seek, water gun fights, drawing, and crafts. Going to Gramma's house was always an adventure and tons of fun. Known as "Gramma's carnival", her kitchen had a spot for a swing, and she would give her grandsons computer chair rides. Words cannot express how much her family will miss her. A celebration of Sue's life will be on Saturday, December 3rd, with a memorial visitation from 9 a.m. until time of chapel prayers at 11 a.m. at the Kerry Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights; then proceeding to Saint Alexander Church in Palos Heights for 11:30 a.m. Mass, then Inurnment at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Orland Park.
